The Season Tickets Tracker was born through my experience managing season tickets within a corporate marketing role.
Three pressures pushed me towards creating the tracker:
- All of what happened with our season tickets became an incredibly large and dynamic data set.
- Before and throughout the season, I had 8 – 10 people approach me with seemingly simple questions that ended up taking me on epic data quests.
- Nobody understood that they were asking me to go on a data quest. I had to improve my response time while maintaining the validity of my answers. I also had to protect my time so I was available to my real job.
I was living in a split reality: the visible reality where ticket holders excitedly lined up for their tickets; and the unseen reality of accounting, statistics, costs and tracking. I needed a calculator to answer questions for people enjoying the tickets, and for those of us tasked with managing the asset. So, I built it.
Since the tracker has been available publicly, I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with season ticket holders to understand more of what is important to them. Their feedback inspired the inclusion of these features:
- Splitting games between ticket holders;
- Tracking exchanged tickets;
- Tracking multiple ticket packages in one tracker;
- Tracking additional tickets purchased outside of the season ticket contract.
Season tickets are exciting, fun and an absolute privilege. I’ve also seen the side where they can feel like a job. I am excited to share the tracker so ticket holders can focus on the excitement of their season, and because season tickets shouldn’t feel like a job!
